49ers Star Nick Bosa Fined by NFL for Crashing TV Interview While Wearing MAGA Hat
NBC
San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa was fined nearly $12,000 by the NFL on Saturday after he wore a MAGA hat during a post-game interview last month after a win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Bosa crashed a live hit between several 49ers players and NBC Sports’s Melissa Stark – brandishing a specialized hat with gold lettering to show his support for Donald Trump.
ESPN reported after the game:
After wearing the hat in support of former president Donald Trump’s candidacy during the postgame interview, Bosa made his way to the podium for his usual postgame session. When asked multiple times about his decision to wear the hat, Bosa declined to elaborate on his reasoning, saying “I’m not gonna talk too much about it but I think it’s an important time.”
The 27-year-old Ohio State alum spoke about the incident after the election and welcomed a potential fine, explaining of the election results, “Clearly, the nation spoke, and we got what we got.”
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bosa was fined $11,255 for what the NFL deemed a uniform violation. Schefter reported on his X page:
NFL fined 49ers DE Nick Bosa $11,255 for wearing a MAGA hat during last Sunday night’s postgame interviews on NBC. Bosa told reporters that he knew the NFL might fine him, but it was “worth it.”
In a follow-up tweet, Schefter added:
Per the NFL: Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL rulebook states that “throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office.”
