James Carville Rages Against Media Over Trump’s Liz Cheney Comment: ‘These People Are So F*cking Stupid!’

Democratic strategist James Carville raged against “professional truth tellers” in the media for being “fair” to former President Donald Trump following a controversial remark about Liz Cheney.
While speaking with Tucker Carlson this week, Trump accused Cheney of being a war hawk and critics homed in on his statement, accusing him of calling for a firing squad against the former congresswoman.
Trump said:
“Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, ok? Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face. You know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh, gee, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.’
But she’s a stupid person, and I used to have, I’d have meetings with a lot of people, and she always wanted to go to war with people. So whether it’s her, whether it’s-, I was surprised a little bit with Dick Cheney. I didn’t know him at all. I only had essentially the one or two phone calls, and it was only a call saying, ‘Thank you very much for doing that for Scooter Libby, that was nice.'”
The comment earned condemnations from Vice President Kamala Harris and others. The former president took to Truth Social to explain that he was not calling for a firing squad for Cheney.
“All I’m saying about Liz Cheney is that she is a War Hawk, and a dumb one at that, but she wouldn’t have “the guts” to fight herself. It’s easy for her to talk, sitting far from where the death scenes take place, but put a gun in her hand, and let her go fight, and she’ll say, ‘No thanks!’ Her father decimated the Middle East, and other places, and got rich by doing so. He’s caused plenty of DEATH, and probably never even gave it a thought. That’s not what we want running our Country!” Trump wrote.
In a Friday video for Politicon, Carville dismissed this context and accused Trump of calling for Cheney to be shot. Too many in the media, he added, are twisting themselves into pretzels to be “fair” to Trump when he’s an existential threat. That threat, Carville argued, should overshadow any debates about policy.
“The wormiest and slimiest people in this is what I call the truth teller caucus, the people out there that are just such burdened with the obligation to tell y’all the truth. And you see these asswipes everywhere. You see them in a commentary, you see them in newsrooms, you see columns, you see them on cable TV, and you see it in the newscasts,” Carville said.
He went on to mock cable news for focusing on “polling averages” and talks in diners with swing state voters over Trump. Carville accused the media of covering Vice President Kamala Harris with more scrutiny, like pointing out a lack of specifics in some of her policy proposals.
“Like these are two equal goddamn things!” Carville said about Harris and Trump.
The political strategist raged against “professional centrists,” people he describes as wanting to be too bipartisan in the age of Trump.
“So let’s say Donald Trump wants a nine-person firing squad to execute Liz Cheney. Okay, is the middle position a four-person firing squad or a five-person firing squad? Now it’s a very important question because we got to take ideas from both parties and meld them together and come up with sensible, real solutions,” he said.
Carville accused anyone not focused enough on Trump and the negatives that could come with a second term of suffering from “idiotic tunnel vision.” If the country is “done in,” Carville said, it will be the fault of these “professional truth tellers.”
“As if the conversation we’re having is about the level of benefits or taxation or Social Security benefits,” he said. “These people are so fucking stupid!”
Carville wrapped up what he said would likely be his last video before the election by telling the media that not all opinions are equal.
“I do hope the people supposedly telling us what’s going on in this country develop the intestinal fortitude, the background, the historical knowledge, the historical sense to know that everything is not fucking equal in this country and everybody’s opinion is not fucking equal!” Carville said. “Some people have better, more informed, more just, more humane opinions than other people do and why the hell don’t you go out and fucking report that?!”
