Trump and Biden Shake Hands in Brief Oval Office Meeting for Cameras: ‘Politics is Tough’

President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump briefly had cameras join them for a convivial, if not tense, meeting in the Oval Office Wednesday morning.

Trump traveled to the nation’s capital Wednesday morning from his Mar-a-Lago residence, where he is preparing to transition to the White House in January after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in last week’s election.

“Looking forward to having a smooth transition. Can make sure you’re accommodated, give you what you need,” President Biden said to the president-elect, adding “Welcome.”

Trump earnestly replied “Thank you, Thank you very much. And politics is tough and it’s in many cases not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today and I appreciate very much a transition that is so smooth, it’ll be as smooth as it can get, and I very much appreciate that, Joe.”
