Tucker Carlson Wildly Claims Abortion Causes Hurricanes: ‘You Can’t Participate in Human Sacrifice Without Consequences’
Tucker Carlson continued his streak of thermonuclear takes on Monday by blaming hurricanes on abortion.
Appearing on Steve Bannon’s War Room, Carlson baselessly claimed the purpose of voting machines is to steal elections from Republicans.
“I think I’ve been proven right on this,” he said. “And we have every reason to be suspicious of electronic voting machines, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
The former Fox News host was only just getting started. Later, he linked abortion to weather phenomena.
“If you’re making the case that, you know, sometimes we need to have an abortion, ok,” he said. “If you’re making the case that abortion is an affirmative good, you are evil. You’re practicing child sacrifice. And that is exactly what they’re doing, as every culture before us has.”
Carlson then pointed to remarks by Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, who criticized abortion bans.
“I believe that eliminating the right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades,” she said during a Senate Banking Committee hearing in 2022.
Carlson misrepresented Yellen’s words to claim the secretary was advocating for abortions because they help the economy.
“But to see the treasury secretary, that dwarf Janet Yellen, get up and say, you know, you can do your part to help the American economy by killing your child, that’s no different than the Canaanites, actually,” he went on. “So if people who don’t see that clearly, that’s exactly what it is. Worshiping abortion? The killing of kids?”
He then prefaced his forthcoming remarks by saying he will be criticized for them.
“And I have to say, I’m sure I’ll be attacked for saying this, but I really believe it,” he said. “People are like, ‘Oh, well, we had another hurricane. Must be global warming.’ No, it’s probably abortion, actually. Just being honest. Like, you can’t do that. You can’t kill children on purpose, knowing that you’re doing that in exchange for power or freedom or happiness or whatever you think you’re getting in return. You can’t participate in human sacrifice without consequences.”
Carlson’s comments echo those of some fundamentalist Christians who blame catastrophes on abortion. Just days after the Sept. 11 attacks, Jerry Falwell blamed “abortionists” and other groups for drawing God’s ire.
