Trump ERUPTS After Motion Unsealed in Federal Court: ‘Deep State Are Totally Freaking Out’
Former President Donald Trump reacted furiously to a motion in his case that was unsealed on Wednesday.
Special Counsel Jack Smith is prosecuting Trump in Washington, D.C. over the ex-president’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled presidents immune from prosecution over “official acts” they take as president, and Smith’s filing attempts to explain why his indictment of Trump conforms to that ruling. Smith’s motion contains some previously undisclosed claims. In one instance, a Trump staffer allegedly wanted supporters to “riot” at a vote-counting center in Michigan.
Ultimately, there was a riot at the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021 after Trump spent nearly two months trying to subvert the results.
The former president has pleaded not guilty to the four charges he faces in the case: conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; conspiracy against rights.
Trump reacted to the unsealing of the motion by going on Truth Social and alleging that the case is just a hoax:

Moments later, he accused the court of unsealing the indictment to distract from a subpar vice presidential debate performance by Tim Walz the previous night. Trump posted:
The release of this falsehood-ridden, Unconstitutional, J6 brief immediately following Tim Walz’s disastrous Debate performance, and 33 days before the Most Important Election in the History of our Country, is another obvious attempt by the Harris-Biden regime to undermine and Weaponize American Democracy, and INTERFERE IN THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Smith’s D.C. case is one of four that have been brought against Trump, who is also under indictment in Georgia for trying to overturn the election results in that state. The former president has also been charged in federal court with retaining classified documents after leaving office. In May, he was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York.
Trump fired off more posts on Wednesday, including one in which he alleged that the cases against him are “the Worst Election Interference in American History.”
