Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) mocked the “hilarious” news that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was appointed to chair a new House subcommittee that is set to partner with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s cost-cutting commission — the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
DOGE is tasked by President-elect Donald Trump with the serious mission of cutting bureaucratic “red tape” and reducing public spending but the New York Democrat took to social media to lampoon her MAGA colleague’s new role, which she described as “actually hilarious.”
In a post on X Thursday night, Ocasio-Cortez quipped about Greene’s work ethic.
“She barely shows up and doesn’t do the reading,” she wrote. “To borrow a phrase I saw elsewhere, it’s like giving someone an unplugged controller.”
Ocasio-Cortez doubled down in a follow-up post, poking fun at the collaboration between Musk, Ramaswamy, and Greene.
“I’m absolutely dying at those two now getting assigned the ‘privilege’ of ‘working’ with MTG,” she said. “That is actually hilarious. Enjoy, fellas! Very prestigious post you have there.”

Greene, for her part, has yet to respond publicly to the mocking remarks but enthusiastically shared news of her appointment.
