Former President Donald Trump’s decision to report for a short shift at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s location — which was actually closed — spawned a super-sized reaction on social media on Sunday.
Trump had spent the past month castigating his 2024 opponent Vice President Kamala Harris – claiming, without evidence, that she “lied” about working there. The vice president previously recounted her experience working for the company for a time during the summer of 1983. (The New York Times spoke with a high school friend of the vice president’s, who backed up the claim.)
At the Pennsylvania location Trump visited Sunday, he claimed he was the only candidate to have worked for the burger chain:
