Former Pennsylvania congressman Dan Meuser reported hearing “eight to ten gunshots” ring out as he sat front row at former President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, PA Saturday, and that “multiple people in the crowd may have been hit and were down.”

During live coverage the rally quickly descended into chaos as the crowd scrambled for cover and Secret Service agents moved swiftly to protect Trump.

According to Fox News chief senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram, Meuser said it sounded like a .22 or a small caliber weapon.

Meuser was sat beside Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Dave McCormick at the rally.

The scene was one of immediate action and confusion. Video footage showed Trump being rushed off the stage by Secret Service agents, raising a fist in defiance as he was escorted to a vehicle with blood on his face.
