Karine Jean-Pierre Struggles to Defend Biden’s Latest Gaffe When Confronted By Reporters

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre downplayed the gaffe that President Joe Biden made while speaking at a campaign fundraiser.

In a recent speech, Biden confused French President Emmanuel Macron with the former leader François Mitterrand, who died in 1996.

“So, I know there’s been a lot of focus on this,” Jean Pierre began, before hailing Biden’s talent for storytelling.

“I want to just step back for a second and just kind of think, really kind of top level, what the president was talking about. When he was having, as he tells the story, when he was having these conversations with world leaders, which are obviously important conversations.

Her roundabout answer continued.

He was underlying the events of Jan 6, in 2021, what happened, the message that it sent around the globe, around the world. To our leaders, to world leaders about how dangerous it is. Our Democracy, how important our democracy was, or is, continues to be obviously. And was asked after he was elected when he went to  the G7 he said…”America’s Back, America’s Back.” And what was asked of him, “For how long” That whole story is just to reiterate to land, obviously, how important what we saw at that event. How important it is to fight for our democracy. But also how important it is their leadership, our leadership here in the globe. He never thought, the is someone who was a senator, who was a vice president. He’s had a relationship with world leaders for decades.  He never thought he’d hear that. To hear him talk…another point, too, was how unprecedented, unprecedented.

“So, I just want to make sure that we get that, the reason he was telling that story. And look as it relates to the names and what he was trying to say, many people, elected officials, people, they can misspeak sometimes, right?”

Jean-Pierre then listed off some prominent Republicans who have made their own gaffes.

“On Sunday Speaker [Mike] Johnson said Iran instead of Israel. This happens.”

She continued, “Sean Hannity himself has said ‘Jason Chaffetz‘ when he meant ‘Matt Gaetz.’ Rick Scott even confuses saving Medicare money with cutting Medicare. It happens. It really happens.”

“It happens to all of us, it is common. But I do want to make sure that we don’t forget what the overarching kind of theme, what he’s trying to say about our leadership on the world stage,” Jean-Pierre said.
