Lawrence O’Donnell Calls Trump ‘Laziest Presidential Campaigner in Modern History’

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell called former President Donald Trump the “laziest presidential campaigner in modern history.”

O’Donnell compared the Labor Day schedules of Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump during his Tuesday broadcast, and he was left fairly unimpressed with the former president.

“With only 64 days to the campaign, candidates are usually campaigning very hard, but not Donald Trump, the laziest presidential campaigner in modern history. Yesterday there were only 64 campaign days left, but Donald Trump did…nothing. And his running mate, James David Vance did…nothing,” he said.

Trump did not hold any campaign events on Monday while President Joe Biden joined Harris at a Pittsburgh rally. Trump held Labor Day campaign events in both 2016 and 2020. Harris’s Pittsburgh event followed her campaigning in Detroit, and she and Biden held a meeting in the Situation Room to discuss the hostages still being held in Gaza by the terror group Hamas following six of them being murdered.

Trump released a statement about releasing the hostages, but O’Donnell dismissed it as empty talk and argued he’d offer nothing specific on the topic in the coming weeks.

O’Donnell rubbed it in that Harris and Biden’s Labor Day “began as a work day” by contrasting that to Trump’s statement on the hostages and lack of campaigning.

“Donald Trump did say he looks forward to discussing the issue at the debate next week, but you can be absolutely certain that Donald Trump will not say one coherent sentence about what his policy would be involving Israel and Hamas,” he said. “While Donald Trump did nothing on Labor Day, Kamala Harris brought her boss with her to campaign in Pennsylvania.”
