Fox and Friends: We Could Wipe Out Iran with the Push of a Button

On Fox and Friends on Monday, the President Trump‘s favorite morning show had a different reaction to his overnight an all-caps warning to Iran than some of the other networks. Very different, in fact.

Fox News assignment reporter Todd Piro, filling in for Brian Kilmeade, said that there were a few things that are important to remember. Above the chryon “Trump Puts Iran on Notice” and following the segment graphic, which read “DON’T THREATEN U.S.”, Piro used some phrases that Trump’s base on Twitter would have called “war-mongering” if used by any other media about Russia last week.

Ainsley Earhardt, directing her remarks to Piro, said “Iran, as you know, this is a country that yells ‘death to America’ so, we’ve been in a conflict with them for a very long time.’

“State sponsor of terror,” said Piro. “They’re not having such a great situation at home there right now, and let’s remember a few key facts here.”

“If we wanted to, we could wipe out Iran with a push of a button,” he said. “That’s militarily.”

He continued. “Economically, with regard to everything that’s going on there, sanctions could literally destroy the regime that’s in power right now.”

He also said that other countries would take America’s side and that Iran “doesn’t have a leg to stand on” in threatening the United States.

Host Steve Doocy followed up with some quick talking points by remarking on the difference between Trump and President Barack Obama.

“This is a different kind of negotiation than we saw with the last administration, that of course wanted to broker that deal, sent all that money over there,” he said. “This president has made it very clear is he taking a different approach.”

Doocy also highlighted a moment from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo‘s speech on Iran throwing hedge funds into the Trump base triggers mix.

“The supreme leader of Iran has got some sort of 95 billion-dollar hedge fund [Pompeo] says, that goes and operates as if it were a slush fund for the revolutionary guard,” said Doocy. “So that is how they are funding the military over there with a big hedge fund, probably from oil.”
