Trump Makes Wild Claim When Reporter At Courthouse Asks If He’s ‘Directing’ Surrogates To Attack Trial
Former President Donald Trump made a wild claim after a reporter asked him if he is “directing” the surrogates who have been showing up at the courthouse and attacking the criminal trial.
Monday was an intense day inside the courtroom in the hush money-election interference trial, with former Trump attorney/fixer Michael Cohen dropping some big revelations during the first day of the prosecution’s direct examination.
But outside the courtroom, Trump got some help with his daily attacks on the proceeding in the form of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). The duo sat in court to show support for Trump and ranted to reporters outside the trial. Unlike Trump, surrogates like these senators are not subject to a gag order.
On his way into court on Tuesday, Trump was confronted by a reporter who asked if he is “directing” those surrogates, and Trump responded with the wild claim that “some” of his surrogates are… “Democrats.”
He then launched into a tangent about President Joe Biden and tariffs:
REPORTER 1: Mr. Trump really directed surgeons to speak on their behalf?
REPORTER 2: Mr. Trump, will you testify?
DONALD TRUMP: I do have a lot of surrogates, and they are speaking very beautifully. And they come all– from all over Washington and they’re highly respected, and they think this is the greatest scam they’ve ever seen.
And some are Democrats. They’re very embarrassed by what’s going on.
I just want to start by saying that, on the electric vehicles that Biden is pushing down everybody’s throat, even though people don’t want them.
He wants to put a big tariff on China, which is a suggestion that I said, where have you been for three and a half years? You should have done it a long time ago. But they’ve also got to do it with other vehicles, and they have to do it on a lot of other products, because China’s eating our lunch right now…
