Kamala Harris Hammers Trump Over Violence of Jan. 6 Riot at Ellipse Speech as Siren Blares

Vice President Kamala Harris slammed former President Donald Trump over the Jan. 6 riots during part of her closing pitch to voters at the Ellipse in Washington on Tuesday night near the White House as a rogue siren distracted from her remarks.

The siren did not appear to affect the vice president, who reminded voters that Trump rallied thousands of supporters in the same place almost four years ago before the U.S. Capitol was overrun.

“Look, we know who Donald Trump is,” Harris told a crowd of thousands of enthusiastic supporters. “He is the person who stood at this very spot nearly four years ago and sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people in a free and fair.”

Harris added:

An election that he knew he had lost. Americans died as a result of that attack. One-hundred-forty law enforcement officers were injured because of that attack. And while Donald Trump sat in the White House watching as the violence unfolded on television, he was told by his staff that the mob wanted to kill his own vice president.

And Donald Trump responded with two words. So what? America. That’s who Donald Trump is. And that’s who is asking you to give him another four years in the Oval Office.

A few minutes into Harris’s comments, the siren subsided, and she continued speaking.

The Harris campaign estimated that at least 75,000 people attended her speech.

The vice president went on to discuss national unity, inflation, and health care, among other issues.
