‘The Esteemed Catturd’: Joe Scarborough Grumbles Over Social Media Influencer’s Clout with Trump Team

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough raised alarm about some of the voices influencing President-elect Donald Trump, including the “esteemed Catturd.”

Scarborough gave the trolling social media account, which sports more than three million followers on X, a shoutout on Wednesday’s Morning Joe after Dasha Burns reported some on Trump’s team feel Elon Musk is beginning to “overstay” his welcome and perhaps “overstepping” with how involved he’s been in voicing his opinion about Trump’s potential administration.

Scarborough argued Musk may find himself on the outs after noting both the X owner and the X account Catturd pressured Trump in public posts to pick Howard Lutnick as Treasury Secretary.

“Don’t make yourself too big, right? If you want to stick around. It’s very interesting Elon Musk publicly on X, I think it was yesterday, publicly was pressuring Donald Trump to pick Lutnick as Treasury Secretary, along with the esteemed Catturd. And as goes Catturd on X, so goes middle America. But the pressuring — for those of you who don’t think, I think it’s an account on X, right?” Scarborough said

After it was confirmed Catturd is an X account, Scarborough exclaimed, “And this Catturd was actually weighing in!”

“I’m concerned that you know that,” analyst John Heilemann responded.

Scarborough circled back to Musk and argued that Musk publicly pressuring Trump likely means the relationship is “not going well.”

“Elon Musk pressured Donald Trump publicly and you’re just looking at that going, that’s not going well,” he said.

Catturd responded on X, laughing at Scarborough’s take. Scarborough has faced backlash from some in recent days after he and co-host Mika Brzezinski flew to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump after years of referring to him as a major threat to democracy.
