Charlamagne Argues Biden Shouldn’t Have Walked Back ‘Garbage’ Comment: If You Support Trump Rally Rhetoric, ‘You Are Garbage’
Charlamagne tha God argued that President Joe Biden shouldn’t have walked back his comments when he seemed to call Donald Trump supporters “garbage.”
While delivering remarks to Latino voters in a video Tuesday, Biden referenced comedian Tony Hinchcliffe joking about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage” at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. The comment has brought a lot of heat to the Trump campaign — though Trump himself has tried to distance himself from the comedian.
In the video, Biden said, “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters– his– his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
Biden’s administration said shortly after that the president was referring to the “hateful rhetoric” at Trump’s rally as “garbage,” but that clarification wasn’t enough to stop a wave of backlash from Republicans.
The president himself also tweeted out his own clarification.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne explained why he felt there was no reason to take it back.
“I don’t understand why he’s walking that back,” Charlamagne said, “because, I mean, based off the examples he gave — like, if you are a person who supports those examples that he gave, you are garbage.”
Charlamagne went on to say he was specifically referring to the people who agreed with Hinchcliffe’s joke.
