‘He’s Lying’: Biden Unloads on Trump Over Bogus Hurricane Claim and Says ‘I Don’t Know Why He Does This’

President Joe Biden ripped former President Donald Trump for falsely claiming the current administration is not providing assistance to areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

The storm devastated parts of the southeastern United States, including North Carolina, which sustained heavy damage. Trump took to Truth Social on Monday to baselessly allege that the Biden administration was not providing assistance to areas of the state that are predominantly Republican-leaning. He claimed Biden and his team are “going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas.”

The reality, is different, however. Biden quickly approved disaster declarations in both Carolinas and Florida to allow victims to tap into federal resources. Additionally, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal departments have been in the areas to assist in those areas and other states affected.

Biden took questions from reporters about the federal government’s response while in the Oval Office on Monday.

“Donald Trump has accused both of you of ignoring the disaster–” a reporter said before Biden cut him off.

“He is lying,” the president declared. “Let me get you straight. He’s lying and the governor told him he was lying. The governor told him he was lying. I’ve spoken to the governor and spent time with him. And he told me he’s lying. I don’t know why he does this.”

Biden added that Trump is being “irresponsible” with his words.

For the Biden-Harris administration to deny aid to any part of North Carolina would not only be a moral failing but a political one, as Vice President Kamala Harris remains in a tight race in the state.
