‘Huge Mistake’: Linsdey Graham Torches Trump’s Comments On Hezbollah, Netanyahu
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) blasted comments from former President Donald Trump in which he called Hezbollah “very smart,” and slammed Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In an interview with Kristen Welker on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, Graham was confronted about the former president’s remarks about Hezbollah during a speech in Florida on Wednesday.
“Israel’s communication minister called that language shameful,” Welker said. “Do you agree? Is that shameful language?”
“That was a huge mistake,” Graham replied.
Welker then pressed the senator about Trump’s Netanyahu criticism — in which the former president said the prime minister was “not prepared” for last Saturday’s terrorist attack by Hamas.
“A lot of people saw that as a personal attack because Netanyahu has recognized President [Joe] Biden as the duly elected president,” Welker said. “Do you think that’s appropriate at this moment?!”
“No,” Graham said. “I thought it was not helpful.”
The Meet the Press moderator went on to ask if Trump’s comments are “disqualifying,” but Graham punted.
“I’m not here talking about the ’24 election, he said.”
Notably, at several recent rallies, Trump has defended Graham after the crowds have booed him.
“Oh no, no!” Trump said to the crowd during a September rally in South Carolina. “He helps me on the left. We need help sometimes. Republicans shouldn’t need help on the left, but he helps me.”
