Pod Save America Hosts Snap Back at Biden Team

The hosts of Pod Save America snapped back at President Joe Biden’s advisors and team for attacking and dismissing them as “operatives” for “cool guy” Barack Obama over their recent criticisms of Biden.

The former Obama aides referenced multiple reports citing Biden’s campaign and team attempting to dismiss them on their latest episode, which dropped following Biden’s press conference from a NATO summit in Washington.

Jon Favreau pointed to Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough saying on Thursday that Obama is orchestrating some of the Biden pushback behind the scenes and that the current president is resentful of his treatment from Obama’s staff, which would include the Pod Save America hosts who were all previously top Obama insiders.

Favreau also pointed to a New York Times report calling them “operatives” for “cool guy” Obama who just doesn’t get Biden’s “scrappy” ways.

In fact, Mr. Biden’s advisers have shrugged off many of the loudest voices against him. Julián Castro? Dropped out of the presidential race in January 2020. Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado? He ended his presidential campaign a month later. David Axelrod? The “Pod Save America” bros? They were President Obama’s aides, operatives who worked for a cerebral, cool-guy president and never understood the world according to the scrappy kid from Scranton.

“Care to respond, my fellow elitist Pod bro?” Favreau asked co-host Dan Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer noted he’s been the most “offline” of the Pod Save America hosts because he finds the current situation with the Biden administration “very personally uncomfortable” since they know many of the staffers in the White House and on Biden’s campaign.

“It’s more infuriating because it explains why they fucked up the response to this debate so bad because it’s not about Joe Biden. Everything is not about Joe Biden… it’s about this election, in which Joe Biden himself has said is the most important election of our time, that democracy is at stake,” he said.

Pfeiffer called it “fucking insane” that anyone in Biden’s circle would waste time “fighting” with Pod Save America.

“As a political operative, just the incompetence of spending your time fighting Pod Save America, David Axelrod, George Clooney —” Pfeiffer began as Favreau jumped in.

“Barack Obama!” Favreau threw in.

“And the most popular figure in the Democratic Party at a time when you are struggling with Black voters is fucking insane,” Pfeiffer finished.

Favreau, who called Biden’s CNN debate possibly the worst he’d ever seen, said he “firmly” believes the people behind attacks on them are no one they know because those colleagues are “smarter than this.” He also revealed reporters have cited White House “sources” claiming he was behind George Clooney’s recent op-ed calling for Biden to be replaced as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“I mean, it was a very well-written op-ed so it’s kind of a compliment,” Pfeiffer said.

“I know, I probably should have just taken credit for it,” Favreau, a former Obama speechwriter, responded.

He then ripped into Biden’s team telling them, “You have bigger fucking fish to fry!”

“You have bigger fucking fish to fry! [What] are you spending time on us for? Go fucking — just beat Donald Trump! Like, help your candidate be on message. If he was the scrappy kid from Scranton, I’d be fucking thrilled,” Favreau said. “We’ve been advocating that for a couple years now. Every time he does Scranton vs. Park Ave and he talks about, you know, fighting for middle class folks and working class folks, I love that Joe Biden.”

Pod Save America co-host Jon Lovett also pushed back on critics of him and others arguing for a stronger candidate than Biden. Lovett responded to a post that included a picture of the Pod Save America hosts and others who have questioned Biden’s campaign like Clooney, Jon Stewart, and others.

These are the folks calling for Biden to quit. Gosh, if there was only something they all had in common,” MSNBC commentator Tristan Snell wrote. All of the images were of white men.

“Thank you for holding me accountable. It is racist and sexist to believe Vice President Harris would be a stronger candidate than President Biden. I’m listening and I’m learning,” Lovett sarcastically wrote in response.
