‘Really?’ MSNBC’s Scarborough Loses It On Mike Lee Over ‘Mean Tweets’ Trump Endorsement: ‘That’s All That Bothers You?’
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough lost it on Sen. Mike Lee Saturday over his endorsement of former President Donald Trump in which the Utah Republican blithely said he’ll take “the mean tweets” over the policies of President Joe Biden.
Lee joined Fox News host Laura Ingraham Friday to make his endorsement of the Republican frontrunner, claiming that Trump delivered on the promises he made on the campaign trail while in office. The GOP lawmaker’s endorsement comes just days before the consequential Iowa caucuses.
After that interview, Lee praised Trump even more on X (formerly Twitter) and presented it as a choice between inflation and border crisis or “mean tweets.”
“I’ll take the mean tweets,” he wrote. “I choose Trump.”
I just endorsed Donald Trump.
Whether you like Trump or not, Americans face a binary choice.
Biden refuses to enforce our border, prosecutes his opponents, & embraces policies that make life unaffordable for hardworking Americans.
I’ll take the mean tweets.
I choose Trump. https://t.co/hirfTzUqpH

Scarborough on Saturday tore into Lee for the message, and brought up both Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis in his reply.
“The mean tweets? Really? That’s all that bothers you?” the MSNBC host wrote. “What about the promises of a dictatorship, the execution of generals insufficiently loyal, the banning of news outlets insufficiently loyal, the jailing of political opponents, the termination of the US Constitution, the praise of Communist leaders across the globe?”

He added that Haley and DeSantis “don’t promise violent authoritarianism. They are not tyrants-in-waiting. This is not a binary choice and you know it.”
According to Real Clear Politics, Trump leads both DeSantis and Haley by wide margins at the national level and in key state primary elections.
