Critically acclaimed director Martin Scorsese will produce a religious docudrama series about Christian saints for Fox News media’s subscription streaming service, Fox Nation.
The series, Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints, will begin airing on Fox Nation starting in November and will be narrated, hosted, and produced by the Oscar-winning Hollywood director.
Scorsese is known for his blockbuster and award-winning films such as “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Taxi Driver,” “Casino,” “Goodfellas,” and 1988’s controversial “The Last Temptation of Christ.” He is the latest A-list celebrity to join Fox News Media, following the signing of Kevin Costner, Rob Lowe, and Dan Aykroyd.
Scorsese’s project with Fox will focus on the stories of eight saints, including Joan of Arc, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Francis of Assisi, and Thomas Becket.
“I’ve lived with the stories of the saints for most of my life, thinking about their words and actions, imagining the worlds they inhabited, the choices they faced, the examples they set,” Scorsese said in a statement.
He added, “These are stories of eight very different men and women, each of them living through vastly different periods of history and struggling to follow the way of love revealed to them and to us by Jesus’ words in the gospels.”
Moreover, Scorsese will appear on camera interviewing experts about the saints along with narrating re-enactments of their lives. The series will begin airing on November 16th with the release of four episodes, while the remaining four will be released in May 2025. Every one-hour episode will focus on the reported deeds and sacrifices of each saint.
The series, created by Matti Leshem, will be directed by Elizabeth Chomko and written by Kent Jones.
